FIND RESOURCES

What resources could help your situation? You won't know until you check for yourself.

  1. Click here to connect to a search for government benefits (benefits.gov). Click here for the full range of resources, from food to student loans to unemployment benefits. Click here for a guide to COVID-19 economic stimulus relief and here for information about protecting your finances during the coronavirus pandemic in general (i.e., mortgage and housing assistance).

  2. If the location that interests you happens to be Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Gainesville, Florida, 1degree.org is an excellent place to check for programs. Easy to use and current (they check listings regularly), One Degree even helps users to develop their own plans, save searches, and write notes to themselves. One of their main search categories is “money” and includes information about programs to build savings, credit unions, financial counseling, and more.

  3. LA only — Los Angeles Office of Financial Empowerment created a resource list that focuses on financially empowering resources only. While these resources are not checked as frequently as One Degree, they are organized very nicely by the types of resources within the larger category of finances.

Note: ABC Member Desiree Picazo checked all the LA County references and produced this updated list in late April 2020.
